With no form of senses to reach the outside world, Shakespeare's brain starts to develop psionic powers. This is due to two important facts.
First, the human brain is amazingly adaptable. If one sense is lost, then other parts of the brain will take over that area of the neural network to become stronger.
Also, it helps with the comic and this is a work of fiction; so there!
