Individual Biology:
Species they can Procreate With: No others.
Cold and Heat: Unlike all other species, this Mammal is not effected by the cold. In fact they thrive in it. The species themselves
wear very little and light clothing, and can easily walk barefoot around outside in the snow if they so wished. There is not a 'too cold'
for them. At the other end of the spectrum though, there is a too hot. The normal body temperature of a Bluidon sits around 70f
(21c). For a species that enjoys travelling so much and exploring out on their own and selling goods, there are not a lot of people
who live in places where they will not begin to overheat. Fortunately for them, they have harvesters of cold stones, and these are
given freely to any Bluidon who is leaving on their pilgrimage, or just heading out to do their own thing. Typically all Bluidons wear
jewelry of some sort that has cold stones on it at all times, even when in Gantz or in their own home city.
Sexual Organs: Male genitalia is external, and both genders are very similar to the human reproductive system.
Mating: Sexual interactions are not kept solely for procreation. It is something that their society is completely comfortable with so
there is no stigma attached to the activities. Allowing them to fit in with other parts of the Empire quite easily.
Mouths: Bluidons have 32 teeth in their mouths and can clearly taste 2 flavours. Really Sweet and Savoury but they can not taste
Bitter or Sour.
Teeth: While they have molars, the front teeth are sharper and more canine in appearance than the rest. Bluidons have the
capabilities of losing their teeth up to 5 times. They have their own ways of taking care of their teeth. 'Tooth Scrapers' would be
used and made out of a combination of bone and a small pad of leather. The leather could be easily removed for changing, or to
use the tool directly on the teeth to act as a flat pick. Their dental hygiene item of choice is available in the Empire, though many
who live in the cities use a combination of toothpaste and the traditional scraper.
Hands: Bluidons have 3 fingers and a thumb.
Eyes: Bluidons have the best sight of any species, this allows them to see something as small as a fly clearly at 100 yards. Their
eyes also allow them to see in a larger spectrum of light than most others, and this also gives them a fair advantage in darker
lighting. Their sight and the way their eyes work has been called 'telescopic' and 'hawk like' by many professionals.
Smell: Their sense of smell is equal to the abilities of the average human.
Gestation Period: Is broken into two parts. The female will be pregnant with her egg for 2 months before the egg is laid. Then the
egg will continue to mature with the growing hatchling over the course of 6 months.
Clutches: Sizes of clutches range from 1 – 3 eggs in one laying.
Growth:
Upon birthing the egg itself is about Ostrich sized. It is soft and is placed into a specially made 'cradle' where the egg will harden.
Over the course of the months, the nutrients inside the egg is slowly absorbed by the offspring. As the baby grows larger the outer
shell will begin to crack, and the most outer membrane of the shell begins to harden when exposed to air. The egg will not expand
much beyond it's original birthing size, though they have been able to get up to the size of a volleyball.
Hatchlings: The newly hatched are completely helpless. They stay in the main shelter which watches over all the new hatchlings.
After 2 years they are finally able to begin learning with the others of their age. It is here with the other children that they are given
lessons, and learn to play and live together. It is at this point that a Bluidon will get their First Name.
Adolescent: After the years of study and learning it is around their adolescent years that their natural skills and talents can begin
to be observed. This is also when a Bluidon will chose their profession and their learning will then becomes more focused on the
particular skill or trade. This is also the age when they will lose their First Name and they will be awarded their First Public Name.
Adult: Most Bluidons who wish to leave their homes will usually do so at this time. With the skills and drive to set out and stake a
life for themselves. Also most adults will take a mate at this age, and this viewed as the time for building relationships and families.
Elder: Elders hold a great renown in the community. It is at this age only that they can become Archivists. The keepers of
knowledge and language. At this time the Bluidon takes the time to gather and record all of the knowledge that they've acquired in
their younger life. This is also when they can choose to become a master and pass on whatever skills they have to the younger
generations. Essentially the job of teaching is not for the young in Bluidon culture. For any Bluidons who are out of their homeland, it
is this age where they feel a calling to go back to their home land. This strong urge may tie into heir role as elders to pass on
knowledge.
Social Structure: Their power structure is a Diplomatically Represented Triumvirate. There are a dozen Clans, some are newer
and some very old. Four in particular are ancient and are seen as the most esteemed of the Clans. Intermarriages happen
between all the clans and people are allowed to freely like who they want from any Clan. Though someone who is an important
figure will most likely have a marriage arranged for him or her once they are an adult. When two Bluidons get married, the Bluidon
with the inferior accomplishments inherits the Better Clan name.
Dwellings: Bluidons have lived in caves for as long as they have recorded their history. Most of the time they build structures in the
caves to suit their needs. Due to the harsh conditions and the lack of any natural protection building outside is not done. Their
dwellings are underground, away from the violent winds. They also have well made leather tents that the hunters and travellers use
when away from home. Any structures that are built above the ground are made out of crystal like stone that is commonly found in
the north. These domed buildings serve as a landmark for people looking for the Bluidon city, and also serve as a base for the
guard towers which allow lookouts to see oncoming dangers.
Language: The Bluidon language is the most complex of all the species. On top of the several languages that the Bluidons use,
they have Common, Ceremonial, and even a language specific to each family. Because Bluidons are so good at learning new
languages they are always seeking to learn more.
Religion: Bluidons have a fairly straightforward religion. They worship the Great Northern Wolf Spirit. Long ago this spirit was
wandering the northern wastes when it came upon the early Bluidon people. It thought of the Bluidon as cubs and so protected
them. The Bluidons worship and revere the wolf. They also adhere to a type of philosophy that teaches them to embrace other
cultures. Acquiring knowledge from other cultures is a deep spiritual significance to the Bluidon people.
Inter species Relations:
Socially speaking, Bluidons have good relations with everyone. Well everyone except the Magnuri but they try whole heartily to
make friends. Bluidons seek to establish cultural and trade relations with every species.
Apolarins: Bluidons were the first species to meet the Apolarins and tell them of the various people in the south. Upon meeting
they opened up trade with the bears. Quickly the Bluidons picked up the Apolarin language and from there were able to discover
that they worshipped the same god. The Bluidons did a lot of work with the Apolarins to help make them less barbaric. Not to
change the species to something they wanted them to be, but to aid in them not seeming so horrifying if and when they would meet
the southern people. The two species are very close and have very strong bonds to each other.
Feliniks: Are seen as very friendly and Bluidons do a lot of trading with the fish loving species. Even if the small furry race is new to
written history, what they have is of interest to Bluidons, who also write down their verbal stories for easy reading and reference at a
later time.
Humans: Their history with the humans goes back a long ways. Over the centuries the two species have built up an unbreakable
trust. Due to this, they joined the Empire early on.
Magnuri: Due to strained relations with ALL other species, Bluidon Diplomats are the only Diplomats of any race that are allowed
into the xenophobic Magnuri homelands.
Telar: They have strong ties to the Telar but Bluidons are aware that they are not very trusted by the private species. Though
interactions with Telar go far smoother and easier than any with the Magnuri.
