Where they Live:
They naturally live just above the rock tundra in north eastern Sahnlinn. Their
home city of Lil'oq is just north of the ice forest Nuburg.
To the east of the city, is the sea, where they fish, and can collect cold and
water stones.
Due to being close to a forest, the Bluidon's have fire and the ability to forge
metals that they collect from the rock tundra to the south.
These metals are then made into knives, axes, arrows for their bows and
other weapons they need to hunt, protect themselves from animals and
monsters, and anything else they might need to make their lives easier.
Society:
Their lives are fairly laid back, and they tend to go with the flow. They get
calmer as they get older, and if they don't, they seem to end up more than a
little odd. Not bad odd, but... odd.
Their youths can be laid back, though most follow right in the steps of their
ansestors. Going out and exploring, and collecting things.
They love to write, collect, and keep track of things. It is for these cultural
'quirks' alone that have made them known as 'The Merchant Species'. Even if
they all have serious professions, the first Bluidons that were met by other
species were usually Merchants that had an scholarly type Bluidon with them,
for in case they happened to come upon a new species. Or a fairly new one.
It is because of the Merchants that the other most common image of a gold
coin being flipped is also held for Bluidons. Since every Merchant has a gold
coin, which represents their connection to the Merchant God.
What they have done for the Empire:
By the time the Humans began trying to collect members for the Empire, the
Bluidon's had explored to many places, and were well versed in the other's
species, or at the very least their locations.
They helped the Empress get the species into the Empire. It was easier to do
this, because of the 'Meeting Logs' that the Bluidon's who had met a new
species had kept. Some very useful information was held within the pages and
it aided in letting Empress Emerelda connect to the new species quickly.
Bluidons also are connected to the Empire's Trade Master Larona Corona.
They aid in what they should be distributed where and are good at thinking of
what goods should be attempted in new places. They are also fully aware that
the Trade Master enjoys looking and flirting with them. In their eyes though,
this is just part of the woman's charms.
Physiology and Clothes:
Bluidon's are lean bodied, with light to dark blue skin. They have large eyes, that allow them to have the best
distance sight of any other species in Sahnlinn.
Their hair is thick and either white or a light grey, it is culturally worn in dreads, this allowing the hair to
remain kept.
Their bodies are able to stay warm, even in cold weather, and some like to wear loose clothing or more tribal
clothing when in their home city. Other's, especially when traveling will wear more 'trek' like gear, or wear
loose clothes under a long open trench coat.
Natural Resources:
Starting from where they live, Bluidons can get Wood, Metals, Stone, Crystals of Ice
and Water, and even a few earth stones from the ice forest. Food is in abundance,
from the Ocean in the form of Fish, Sea Plants, Birds and Northern Seals. In the
forest there are Ice berries, the leaves from some plants can also be consumed, and
there is an abundance of wild life, allowing them to gather pelts, meat, and bones,
which can be used for many things.
It is this location, and what they provide the Bluidons that have allowed them an
already farily old, and prosperous society. These tools are also what have made
them so starkly different and far more 'advanced' than Either set of the Apolarins. Not
that they'd ever hold that against the large Bear culture.
Sight:
Bluidon's have the best long distance sight of any of the
species in Sahnlinn. It is for this reason that they are also the
best archers. Their bows are sought after, and are
unparalleled in their high quality.
Their eyes are large, in comparison to almost every other
species, save for the Magnuri. Even in the harsh cold, their
eyes are alright, due to the very thin clear second eyelid that
can cover them when the need arises.
Eggs:
Bluidon's come from pale blue eggs that are thick shelled.
The thick shell provides protection from the elements and the
cold.
One egg is carried at a time. The shell is hard and it has
slight round groves in it. When held it is very warm. Usually
all eggs are the same shape and almost all the same colour.
To prevent them from being mixed up, if the parents decide
to keep them at the Nestary in the Medical Center, the egg's
shells are magically imprinted with the families crest.
When the pup hatches, a party is thrown by the family. The
First day of life is celebrated twice. First is the day of their
laying, and second is the day of their emergence.
