There are 3 main sources of magic in Sahnlinn: Primal, Refined, and Imbued.

All forms of Magic will exhaust the user the more they use spells in a row. The larger they are, the quicker the exhaustion will set in.
Once too much energy has been used, the Mage will fall unconscious.

PRIMAL: Refers to a natural talent. Someone who is gifted with magic who can do it on command without having to have learn
spells or study them. The best known for this ability are Mystics, though there are other people who are not Mystics who can do the
same thing. These people are rare.

Primal magic is the oldest form of the three, due to how it is, it is also recognized as the most 'raw' form of magic. This magic is
taught by demonstration and is usually passed down through families. Even though it seems like it would be a type anyone could
do, this type requires a natural attunement to be capable of practicing it. Primal Magic almost always deals physical damage and
can actually change the environment around it, like using rocks, water and plants.

This is also the ONLY type of magic that can be recorded and be photographed.

REFINED: Refers to the type of magic that must be learned from books. Many books are available from the local Libraries, and
stores. Some of the best books can be found at the Mages Guild, though these books are only available to Mage Guild members.

The Refined form of magic is the newest of the three. The spells found in it are very specific and focused, almost like a program or
an exact ritual. This form of magic mostly bends the world to the users will and doesn't specifically use what is around the user to
achieve their spell. This magic is also viewed by some to be the hardest. If only due to what is required to achieve it Scholars are
exceptional at this type of magic. Since it requires mental insight and diligence to learn and use properly.

IMBUED: Refers to the magic that one gets from prayer. It is a gift from the god that you worship. As long as you never loose your
faith, you will always have your magic. A mage can pray for the spells that they need, and they will be given to them as a gift.

Imbued Magic is only available to those who worship. There are specific gods who are known for one type of magic and only loyalty
to them will grant you the spells. Deities, Spirits and ancient beings can impart their followers with this magic. Proof of ones
devotion to a particular deity or virtue can also impart magic to the follower. Unlike other magics, this form grants stronger and
more powerful spells as ones wisdom and faith becomes stronger. Of the three this is a type of magic that requires a life time of
dedication and cannot be 'faked' through.

Types of Magic found within the three sources:

The following are the specific sub categories of each type of Magic. People typically stay to one Sub Category of Magic, due to the
fact that trying to learn another will stretch a person very thin. Only rarely are people able to do two different sub categories of
magic well.

Primal: Plant, Raw Magic, Elemental Control, Life/Animal

Plant: Plant Mages are capable of using the foliage that is around them to aid them. Many Plant Mages carry seeds with them,
some in simple pouches others in complex catalogues. Thus allowing them to grow what they want to when they need to.

Raw Magic: Is unlike other forms of magic. It is pure and 'flavourless'. It has none of the identifying features of other magic. There
is nothing 'fancy' or 'flourshy' about it.

Elemental Control: It is what it sounds like. Granting the user the ability to wield the elements that are around them or available.

Life/Animal: This is primal magic that lets the user control or influence living things.

Refine: Wizardry, Necromancy, Runic, Combat

Wizardry: Is the most traditional looking type of Magic. It is the most basic form of Refined magic, most Wizardry spells are
utilitarian in function and there are not many combat spells.

Necromancy: Is very similar to Wizardry in that it's a technical type magic. It is oriented to life energies and raising corpses.

Runic: Is all about sustained and delayed effects. It is the type of magic created by drawing runes on an object.

Combat: Is the most pragmatic of all the magic. It is used entirely for combat purposes.

Imbued: Holy, Blood/Sacrafice, Elemental Deities, Dark

Holy: Majority of the Healing and Defensive type spells.

Blood/Sacrafice: A form of magic that deals with life energies. Most of these spells require a bit of blood to be able to be cast.
The blood has to be your own, though there are powerful spells that can be done by sacrificing someone. That is when the spells
and their caster get into a dark area that is not okay with the Empire.

Elemental Deities: There are various deities of the elements. They can bless their followers with various elemental type spells.
Now most followers of any deity can use either Holy or Dark and an Elemental spell. Holy and Dark are the main kinds of Imbued
Magic.

Dark: Is mostly Curses and debilitating type spells. But there's also some combat and damage spells.

Other kinds of magical abilities:

Intrinsic Powers: These are special and rare powers that certain people are just born with. They can train this power to become
better at using it.

Special Moves: These are magically augmented physical feats, in the teenage crowd these moves are also known as 'Super
Moves'. These moves are usually passed down from master to student.

Magical Enhancement: Through rigorous training and strength of will some people are able to enhance their natural abilities to
super human levels.

DIFFERENCES:

Take  A Fire Spell...

In
Primal: This may be the ability to light a fire, reduce or increase an existing flame. But it's really fire, it can burn or go out of
control. One can't directly control fire but augment it through magic.

In
Refined: A fireball that would deal magical damage and cause a concussive force on impact. It has a specific function and
performs in a specific way. This fire is not real and doesn't burn like real fire.

In
Imbued: It would be like a gift of fire. A spell that would bless the target with firey attacks or protect them in a fire shield. Even
calling forth a storm of fire. This kind of fire spell isn't as specific or controlled as the refined one.
